Who is Volunteering in Sarasota?!

The recent article “Volunteer efforts seeing more help from Americans,” reflects the rise of a new spirit of volunteerism that is alive and well in Sarasota County. Here, the Friendship Volunteer Center is the starting place to find opportunities that match people’s interests and needs for meaningful ways to make a difference.

Last year alone, volunteers gave more than 192,000 hours valued at $4 million. This year we expect that number to be even higher. We see a growing number of people eager to be a part of the solution. As the Suncoast’s leading volunteer connection center, the Friendship Volunteer Center is a one-stop shop for potential volunteers and resources in Sarasota and Manatee counties. We offer access to opportunities in a network of more than 400 nonprofit and faith-based organizations.

Opportunities are as diverse as the needs of our community. From parks and the environment to food banks, libraries, the arts and disaster preparedness, people are coming forward to assist in record numbers.

We encourage anyone interested in volunteering to check out our website at www.iVolunteerSarasota.com or call (941) 953-5965 to learn more about what’s available.
